Another 10% Increase in Weekly Mileage

FOUNDATION 1.2 REPORT (10/27 – 11/02)

HIGHLIGHTS: As previously noted, increasing weekly training mileage is ideally limited to roughly 10% of the previous week’s mileage. Last week, my total mileage was 87 miles. This week’s training mileage was 97.7 miles, almost reaching 100 miles, despite having a day off the trike on Thursday. As expected, my CTL also continued a slow increase from 30 to 31.

Next week, both my weekly mileage and CTL are scheduled to jump significantly when I include the first of the twice per month rehearsal rides leading up to the triple inaugural Guinness Ultracycling World Record attempts in April 2026.

All indoor cycling sessions were completed with my recumbent trike on a Kinetic by Kurt Road Machine smart trainer + Rouvy application. Two of three strength resistance workouts were completed.

DETAILS:

  • Monday’s Recovery – Endurance Blend Mixed workout was 13.87 miles in 0:55:00. Average speed was 15.1 mph; maximum speed was 17.2 mph. Average power was 84 watts; maximum power was 142 watts. A 30-minute strength machine resistance workout was completed.
  • Tuesday’s Sweet Spot Tempo Intervals (6 x 3/3 minutes) workout was 14.28 miles in 0:56:00. Average speed was 15.3 mph; maximum speed was 17.8 mph. Average power was 87 watts; maximum power was 153 watts.
  • Wednesday’s Foundation Miles Intervals (4 x 8/4 minutes) workout was 16.84 miles in 1:07:00. Average speed was 15.1 mph; maximum speed was 17.1 mph. Average power was 83 watts; maximum power was 127 watts. A 30-minute strength machine resistance workout was completed.
  • Thursday was a rest day off the bike.
  • Friday’s Aerobic Tempo Intervals (6 x 5/3 minutes) workout was 17.92 miles in 1:09:00. Average speed was 15.6 mph; maximum speed was 17.5 mph. Average power was 90 watts; maximum power was 126 watts. A 30-minute strength machine resistance workout was cancelled.
  • Saturday’s Foundation Miles Intervals (3 x 8 minutes) workout was 14.62 miles in 0:58:00. Average speed was 15.1 mph; maximum speed was 18.7 mph. Average power was 85 watts; maximum power was 184 watts.
  • Sunday’s Endurance Miles workout was 20.14 miles in 1:18:00. Average speed was 15.5 mph; maximum speed was 18.0 mph. Average power was 89 watts; maximum power was 146 watts.
