Added 2 Live Events to Race Calendar

PREPARATION 2.2 REPORT (04/27 – 05/03)

HIGHLIGHTS: Last week, I was contacted by one of the cycling coordinators of the Wisconsin Masters Games, formerly known as the Wisconsin Senior Olympics, and informed that they were including recumbent bikes and trikes in this year’s event. He had raced in Des Moines, IA, at National Senior Games last July and knew of my race results. I had raced this event to four victories on my time trial bike in 2019 and 2020:

  • 08/20/19 / 10 kilometer TT / 0:16:14 (23.54 avg mph) / 1st Place
  • 08/21/19 / 5 kilometer TT / 0:08:05 (23.30 avg mph) / 1st Place
  • 08/18/20 / 10 kilometer TT / 0:17:01 (22.74 avg mph) / 1st Place
  • 08/19/20 / 5 kilometer TT / 0:08:44 (22.32 avg mph) / 1st Place

This year’s event is being staged on a flat 1.5 mile loop in a county park, similar to previous years. The 10 kilometer TT is scheduled to start at 9:00 AM, Tuesday, September 1. The 5 kilometer TT is scheduled to start at 9:00 AM, Wednesday, September 2.

All indoor cycling sessions were completed with my recumbent trike on a Kinetic by Kurt Road Machine smart trainer + Rouvy application. No strength resistance or standing abdominal workouts were completed due to lingering back pain.

DETAILS:

  • Monday was a rest day off the bike.
  • Tuesday’s Recovery Blend workout was 11.21 miles in 0:47:00. Average speed was 14.3 mph; maximum speed was 17.8 mph. Average power was 77 watts; maximum power was 112 watts.
  • Wednesday’s Aerobic Tempo Intervals (3 x 7/4 minutes) workout was 15.23 miles in 0:59:00. Average speed was 15.5 mph; maximum speed was 17.8 mph. Average power was 91 watts; maximum power was 129 watts.
  • Thursday’s Foundation Miles Intervals (4 x 10/4 minutes) workout was 18.90 miles in 1:15:00. Average speed was 15.1 mph; maximum speed was 18.6 mph. Average power was 86 watts; maximum power was 129 watts.
  • Friday’s Aerobic Tempo Intervals (3 x 10/6 minutes) workout was 17.44 miles in 1:05:00. Average speed was 16.1 mph; maximum speed was 19.1 mph. Average power was 101 watts; maximum power was 182 watts.
  • Saturday’s Foundation Miles Medley Intervals (10 x 5/1 minutes) workout was 19.78 miles in 1:19:00. Average speed was 15.0 mph; maximum speed was 19.4 mph. Average power was 84 watts; maximum power was 135 watts.
  • Sunday’s Endurance Miles Medley workout was 17.94 miles in 1:12:44. Average speed was 15.4 mph; maximum speed was 20.3 mph. Average power was 90 watts; maximum power was 127 watts.
