PREPARATION 3.2 REPORT (06/01 – 06/07)

HIGHLIGHTS: I started this blog almost 13 years ago on Wednesday, September 18, 2013. Since that date, I have posted practically every Sunday with the occasional “Breaking News” or “Race Report” posts added to the steady stream of weekly training reports. The only significant break was in the aftermath of my hit-and-run accident almost six years ago. (That anniversary is coming up in three weeks.) I have every intention of continuing to report weekly on my training/race progress as I prepare to defend my 2025 National Age-Group Recumbent Trike Time Trial Championship at the 2027 National Senior Games in Tulsa, OK.

In other news, I’ve updated the visual appearance of this blog for the first time since it was originally published almost 13 years ago. In particular, I felt it was important to update the title logo to reflect my switch from a standard time trial bike to a recumbent racing trike. I hope readers approve of this change.

All indoor cycling sessions were completed with my recumbent trike on a Kinetic by Kurt Road Machine smart trainer + Rouvy application. Two strength workouts with resistance bands were completed.

DETAILS:

  • Monday was a rest day off the bike.
  • Tuesday’s Aerobic Tempo Intervals (3 x 15/5 minutes) workout was 18.88 miles in 1:10:00. Average speed was 16.2 mph; maximum speed was 17.5 mph. Average power was 100 watts; maximum power was 130 watts.
  • Wednesday’s Recovery-Endurance Blend workout was 14.50 miles in 0:58:00. Average speed was 15.0 mph; maximum speed was 17.9 mph. Average power was 84 watts; maximum power was 126 watts. A 30-minute strength training with resistance bands workout was completed.
  • Thursday’s Aerobic Tempo/Sweep Spot Blend Intervals (2 x 5/20/5/10 minutes) workout was 23.32 miles in 1:25:00. Average speed was 16.5 mph; maximum speed was 20.1 mph. Average power was 107 watts; maximum power was 157 watts.
  • Friday’s Endurance Miles – “Kitchen Sink” workout was 14.08 miles in 0:54:00. Average speed was 15.6 mph; maximum speed was 19.5 mph. Average power was 94 watts; maximum power was 185 watts.
  • Saturday’s Foundation Miles Interval (4 x 15/5 minutes) workout was 25.24 miles in 1:39:00. Average speed was 15.3 mph; maximum speed was 28.6 mph. Average power was 90 watts; maximum power was 122 watts.
  • Sunday’s Endurance Miles Intervals (7 x 6/2 minutes) workout was 20.61 miles in 1:21:00. Average speed was 15.3 mph; maximum speed was 21.0 mph. Average power was 87 watts; maximum power was 130 watts. A 30-minute strength training with resistance bands workout was completed.
