A “Relaxing” 67 Mile Training Week
FOUNDATION 3.2 REPORT (12/22 – 12/28)
HIGHLIGHTS: The last time I had a “relaxing” recovery week with less than 70 miles logged was the week of October 13-19, two months ago. Coach felt it was time to take a short break before we start the buildup to a 4-hour rehearsal ride at the end of January. The triple Guinness world record attempt is only 16 weeks away. I have been working on a “Plan B” in the event that the Detroit Velodrome attempt does not happen due to any number of logistical complications, such as the lack of a pair of certified officials.
My National Senior Games (NSG) 2026 January Athlete of the Month article should be available by the end of next week. The writer told me that his deadline was Saturday, January 4th. It will be the subject of a “breaking news” post, which will include a link to the article on the NSG website.
All indoor cycling sessions were completed with my recumbent trike on a Kinetic by Kurt Road Machine smart trainer + Rouvy application. One strength resistance workout was completed.

- Tuesday’s Endurance Miles – “Kitchen Sink” workout was 10.11 miles in 0:41:00. Average speed was 14.8 mph; maximum speed was 18.7 mph. Average power was 84 watts; maximum power was 186 watts. A 30-minute strength machine resistance workout was completed.
- Wednesday’s Recovery Miles workout was 7.08 miles in 0:30:00. Average speed was 14.2 mph; maximum speed was 17.9 mph. Average power was 77 watts; maximum power was 133 watts.
- Thursday’s Endurance Miles – “Kitchen Sink” workout was 12.37 miles in 0:50:00. Average speed was 14.8 mph; maximum speed was 18.7 mph. Average power was 84 watts; maximum power was 176 watts.
- Friday’s Foundations Miles Interval (6 x 4/1 minutes) workout was 12.38 miles in 0:51:00. Average speed was 14.6 mph; maximum speed was 16.8 mph. Average power was 80 watts; maximum power was 128 watts.
- Saturday’s Aerobic Tempo Intervals (5 x 3/2 minutes) workout was 11.22 miles in 0:45:00. Average speed was 15.0 mph; maximum speed was 16.9 mph. Average power was 86 watts; maximum power was 150 watts.
- Sunday’s Foundation Miles Medley workout was 13.39 miles in 0:55:00. Average speed was 14.6 mph; maximum speed was 17.4 mph. Average power was 80 watts; maximum power was 147 watts.
