Build 2 – Week 2 Training Report

BUILD 2 – WEEK 2 (05/11 – 05/23) TRAINING REPORT

HIGHLIGHTS: The aim for this phase of training for the 2021 race season is to continue increasing the time in the saddle with endurance and speed workouts, plus weekly races. The workouts on Wednesday and Friday were conducted indoors on a direct-drive power trainer using the ZWIFT online applications. All the rest of this week’s workouts and Sunday’s race were conducted outdoors on local bike trails or local roads.

Tuesday’s L5 VO2max 15/15 Pyramid Intervals workouts was 23.07 miles completed in 1:26:28. Average speed was 16.1 mph; maximum speed was 22.7 mph. Average power was 143 watts; maximum power was 522 watts.

Wednesday’s L1 Active Recovery Rolling workout was 60 minutes at 105-140 watts. Average speed was 18.7 mph; maximum speed was 23.6 mph. Average power was 116 watts; maximum power was 148 watts.

Thursday’s L4 FTP Variable Undulation Intervals workout was 26.69 miles completed in 1:36:21. Average speed was 16.7 mph; maximum speed was 25.8 mph. Average power was 152 watts; maximum power was 474 watts.

Friday’s L1 Active Recovery Steady workout was 60 minutes at 105-140 watts. Average speed was 17.9 mph; maximum speed was 23.0 mph. Average power was 105 watts; maximum power was 126 watts.

Saturday’s L4/L6 Pre-Race Day Prep was 23.07 miles completed in 1:26:54. Average speed was 16.0 mph; maximum speed was 21.7 mph. Average power was 137 watts; maximum power was 445 watts.

Sunday’s race was: Stray Kats Kankakee 20 KM Time Trial.
