New personal coach as of April 7th!

After the retirement of my long-time coach, Michael Cooper, in September 2019, I was facing a dilemma. I could either recycle Coach Cooper’s training plans from last season, or hire a new personal coach. It has taken me several months to decide to find a new coach.

I am pleased to announce that I have selected Coach Gary Tingley to help me win a Masters National Age-Group Individual Time Trial (ITT) Championship. Gary has 15 years of cycling coaching experience and over 20 years of racing experience at the Elite and Masters levels. His credentials include: USA Cycling (USAC) Certified Level 1 Cycling Coach (with distinction), USAC Certified Power-Based Training Coach, USAC Certified Skills Instructor, ISSA Certified Personal Trainer, and Masters of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees.

Gary is also a TrainingPeaks Power Certified Expert Level Coach. He was Masters California State ITT/Team Time Trial Champion five times and twice USAC Masters National Silver Medalist in the individual time trial and road race.

He has coached Masters TT specialists, like me, to a UCI world hour record, and wins and podium finishes at national, state, and local championship events. We’ve already starting talking about qualifying for the Masters Time Trial World Championship this Fall in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Welcome, Coach. I’m looking forward to many more wins in the months and years to come with your guidance.
