Uneventful Start to 26th Season of Cycling
PREPARATION 1.5 REPORT (09/22 – 09/28)
HIGHLIGHTS: There are 29 weeks of training until the triple Guinness world record attempt at the end of April 2026. There are four more weeks of preparation training, 16 weeks of foundation training, 8 weeks of preparation training, and two weeks of specialized training.
More specifically, focused event training will begin in December with a 3-hour rehearsal ride at the end of the month. In January, there will be a 4-hour rehearsal ride at the end of that month. In February, there will be a 5-hour rehearsal ride at the end of that month. In March, there will be the final 6-hour rehearsal ride at the end of that month.
All indoor cycling sessions were completed with my recumbent trike on a Kinetic by Kurt Road Machine smart trainer + Rouvy application. Three strength resistance workouts were completed.

- Monday’s Foundation Hi/Lo Blend (3 x 4/2 minutes) workout was 12.71 miles in 0:53:00. Average speed was 14.4 mph; maximum speed was 16.6 mph. Average power was 76 watts; maximum power was 129 watts. A 30-minute strength machine resistance workout was completed.
- Tuesday’s Recovery – Endurance Blend workout was 10.62 miles in 0:44:00. Average speed was 14.5 mph; maximum speed was 16.6 mph. Average power was 78 watts; maximum power was 135 watts.
- Wednesday’s Foundation Miles Intervals (6 x 4/2 minutes) workout was 13.31 miles in 0:55:00. Average speed was 14.5 mph; maximum speed was 16.6 mph. Average power was 78 watts; maximum power was 132 watts. A 30-minute strength machine resistance workout was completed.
- Thursday was a rest day off the bike.
- Friday’s Aerobic Tempo Intervals (5 x 2/2 minutes) workout was 9.90 miles in 0:40:00. Average speed was 14.9 mph; maximum speed was 17.1 mph. Average power was 83 watts; maximum power was 165 watts. A 30-minute strength machine resistance workout was completed.
- Saturday’s Recovery – Endurance Miles workout was 11.37 miles in 0:47:00. Average speed was 14.5 mph; maximum speed was 16.5 mph. Average power was 78 watts; maximum power was 141 watts.
