2 Training Milestones Achieved This Week

PREPARATION 2.1 TRAINING REPORT (06/09 – 06/15)

HIGHLIGHTS: My training year typically begins at the end of September, rather than at the start of the calendar year in January. This was the 38th week of my season. The first milestone this week was achieved on Saturday. I passed the 4,000 mile mark (4,004.34 miles), with 14 weeks until the end of this season. If I continue to average 105+ miles per week, I should finish the season with over 5,500 miles logged, roughly the same total mileage as last season.

The second milestone this week was a bit more esoteric. Today, I logged my 1,000th workout on my trike. I started training with it back on May 20, 2022, and have logged 16,582.82 miles to date. One of my primary cycling applications, Garmin Connect, has been keeping track of these data points over the past three years.

All indoor cycling sessions were completed with my recumbent trike on a Kinetic by Kurt Road Machine smart trainer + Rouvy application. Both strength workouts were completed.

DETAILS:

  • Monday’s Recovery Miles with Fast Pedals workout was 7.22 miles in 0:30:04. Average speed was 14.4 mph; maximum speed was 16.7 mph. Average power was 79 watts; maximum power was 130 watts. The 45-minute strength routine, a mix of strength machines, free weights, and rope exercises, was completed.
  • Tuesday’s Foundation Miles Medley Intervals (10 x 5/1 minutes) workout was 19.14 miles in 1:19:05. Average speed was 14.5 mph; maximum speed was 16.7 mph. Average power was 80 watts; maximum power was 125 watts.
  • Wednesday’s Speed Intervals (4 x 4 x 30/30 seconds) workout was 18.78 miles in 1:17:11. Average speed was 14.6 mph; maximum speed was 18.8 mph. Average power was 82 watts; maximum power was 172 watts.
  • Thursday’s Endurance Miles-“Coffee Shop Ride” workout was 15.82 miles in 1:11:38. Average speed was 13.2 mph; maximum speed was 14.6 mph. Average power was 64 watts; maximum power was 80 watts. The 45-minute strength routine, a mix of strength machines, free weights, and rope exercises, was completed.
  • Friday’s Pre-Event Ride with Sweet Spot Tempo & Speed Intervals workout was 11.04 miles in 0:45:04. Average speed was 14.7 mph; maximum speed was 18.6 mph. Average power was 84 watts; maximum power was 178 watts.
  • Saturday’s Steady State Intervals (4 x 3/1 minutes) workout was 19.29 miles in 1:16:23. Average speed was 15.2 mph; maximum speed was 19.4 mph. Average power was 89 watts; maximum power was 196 watts.
  • Sunday’s Endurance Miles-“Coffee Shop Ride” workout was 20.80 miles in 1:30:03. Average speed was 13.9 mph; maximum speed was 14.7 mph. Average power was 70 watts; maximum power was 83 watts.
