Period 2 – Week 1 Training Report

PERIOD 2 – WEEK 1 (12/19 – 12/25) TRAINING REPORT

Over the past 90 days, my fitness level has dropped 17 points, from CTL 46 on September 27th to CTL 30 this week. CTL stands for Chronic Training Load, a rolling, daily average of how much training load, measured by each workouts Training Stress Score® (TSS®), an athlete is managing. Consequently, I’ve reconsidered my decision to recycle Coach Cooper’s 2020 annual training program for the 2023 race season and hired a new coach, Tracey Drews, with Carmichael Training Systems, starting January 2, 2023. Coach Drews has years of experience coaching “mature athletes,” and, in particular, several recumbent trike competitors, like me.

HIGHLIGHTS: Each week typically consists of four specific cycling sessions, two recovery cycling sessions, and two strength/yoga sessions. All cycling sessions were completed indoors with my recumbent trike on a smart trainer with the Zwift or Rouvy applications.
