Period 6 – Week 3 Training Report

PERIOD 6 – WEEK 3 (04/18 – 04/24) TRAINING REPORT

HIGHLIGHTS: This was normally the overload week for the sixth training period of the 2016 race season. However, I had gall bladder removal surgery on Wednesday, April 20th. Only one workout on the trainer was completed, while the balance of the week focused on casual walking to aid surgery recovery.

Tuesday’s workout was an intensive endurance effort at 95%-100% MHR for five five-minute intervals in the 53 x 16 gear at 95 RPM cadence with two minutes active recovery between intervals. Average speed was 20.2 mph; maximum speed was 24.4 mph. Average power was 153 watts; maximum power was 242 watts.

Wednesday’s workout was cancelled and replaced by successful gall bladder removal surgery.

Thursday’s workout was cancelled and replaced by a total of 1.0 mile of casual walking.

Friday’s workout was cancelled and replaced by a total of 1.2 miles of casual walking.

Saturday’s workout was cancelled and replaced by 1.6 miles of casual walking.

Sunday’s workout was cancelled and replaced by 1.6 miles of casual walking.
