Base 3 – Week 1 Training Report
BASE 3 – WEEK 1 (02/15 – 02/21) TRAINING REPORT
HIGHLIGHTS: The aim for this phase of training for the 2021 race season is to continue increasing the time in the saddle with endurance and speed workouts. All workouts were conducted indoors on a power trainer using the ZWIFT online application.
Tuesday’s L4 FTP Race Uphill Virtual Climb was cancelled due to residual shoulder pain from COVID-19 vaccine.
Wednesday’s L1 Active Recovery Rolling was cancelled due to dental treatment for a broken tooth.
Thursday’s L4 Triple Peaks Intervals was three sets of 12 intervals: two minutes at 215 watts, one minute at 220, 229, 239, 206, 222, 239, 246, 206, 229, and 246 watts. The second half of the workout was 15 minutes at 140-187 watts. Average speed was 20.3 mph; maximum speed was 26.2 mph. Average power was 135 watts; maximum power was 288 watts.
Friday’s L1 Active Recovery Steady was 60 minutes at 117 watts. Average speed was 16.0 mph; maximum speed was 36.5 mph. Average power was 115 watts; maximum power was 150 watts.
Saturday’s L2 Endurance Varied Route Badge was 120 minutes at 152-199 watts. Average speed was 18.3 mph; maximum speed was 42.1 mph. Average power was 122 watts; maximum power was 266 watts.
Sunday’s L2 Endurance Aero Turtling was 60 minutes at 147-173 watts. Average speed was 20.6 mph; maximum speed was 34.2 mph. Average power was 129 watts; maximum power was 165 watts.
