6-HR Non-Stop Rehearsal Postponed

PREPARATION 1.5 TRAINING REPORT (05/13 – 05/19)

HIGHLIGHTS: I postponed Saturday’s 6-hour non-stop rehearsal workout until next Saturday. I was planning on moving my trike from the basement into my garage. This move will make it easier for me to start riding on the local bike trails and start getting acclimated to the summer heat. However, my coach nixed that plan. She said that she wanted to see how I fared, as with the previous rehearsals, in the climate-controlled conditions of my basement. So I’ve postponed moving the trike for another week.

As for the triple record attempts on June 28, I sent out a request for help to a dozen of my cycling buddies and some friends. I need two certified officials and one crew member to qualify for world record consideration. I’ve had two responses. One friend will be out of the country. The other response was from a competitor, who happens to be the president of a local cycling club, promising to “get back to me shortly.” I’m starting to think, with a little more than a month to go, that the attempt is not going to happen. Stay tuned.

My Chronic Training Load (CTL) increased by three points, from 61 to 64.

This week’s training included six workouts on the trike. No strength workouts. All indoor cycling sessions were completed with my recumbent trike on a Kinetic by Kurt Road Machine smart trainer + Rouvy application.

  • Monday’s Sweet Spot Tempo Interval ( 5 x 6/3 minutes) workout was 21.02 miles in 1:27:22. Average speed was 14.4 mph; maximum speed was 16.8 mph. Average power was 75 watts; maximum power was 114 watts.
  • Tuesday’s Foundation Miles workout was 15.82 miles in 1:04:24. Average speed was 14.7 mph; maximum speed was 15.3 mph. Average power was 78 watts; maximum power was 89 watts.
  • Wednesday was a rest day.
  • Thursday’s Endurance Ladder Intervals (13 x 10/2 minutes) workout was 41.33 miles in 3:01:07. Average speed was 13.7 mph; maximum speed was 15.7 mph. Average power was 65 watts; maximum power was 95 watts.
  • Friday’s Foundation Miles workout was 29.15 miles in 2:00:01. Average speed was 14.6 mph; maximum speed was 15.4 mph. Average power was 76 watts; maximum power was 93 watts.
  • Saturday’s Foundation Miles workout was 28.85 miles in 2:00:00. Average speed was 14.4 mph; maximum speed was 15.2 mph. Average power was 74 watts; maximum power was 98 watts.
  • Sunday’s Foundation Intervals (5 x 10/4 minutes) workout was 20.46 miles in 1:30:02. Average speed was 13.6 mph; maximum speed was 15.4 mph. Average power was 65 watts; maximum power was 95 watts.
